IS A MODERN WARFARE 2 REMASTER COMING NEXT YEAR?

A Modern Warfare 2 Remaster could be being developed as we speak.
Modern Warfare 2 has to be one of the most well-known and iconic Call of Duty's of the franchise because of its innovation and fun factor. With this years Infinite Warfare release, Activision has allowed Raven Software to develop Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered as a pre-order incentive for Infinite Warfare and it's a brilliant idea from the publisher giant. However, this lands Activision in a tricky position because now fans will be expected a Remastered title every year now until something drastically changes with the Call of Duty development cycle.
The next Call of Duty title will be released by Sledgehammer Games and although releasing a remastered Modern Warfare 3 would make sense (because Sledgehammer Games helped develop the title), it would also not make sense at the same time. In fact, it's probably likely that a Modern Warfare 2 Remaster is on the horizon, probably being developed by a studio such as High Moon Studios.
So why does a Modern Warfare 2 Remaster make sense? Well, first off it will generate a whole-lot of sales and that's pretty much a given, but in addition to this it will also set Activision up for the future of Remasters. We anticipate that the next few years of Call of Duty will go something like this:
2016 Infinity Ward - Infinite Warfare & Modern Warfare Remastered
2017 Sledgehammer Games - World War 2/1 Title & Modern Warfare 2 Remastered
2018 Treyarch Games - World At War 2 & World At War Remastered
2019 Infinity Ward - Infinite Warfare 2 & Modern Warfare 3 Remastered & Modern Warfare Remastered Trilogy
As you can see, this development cycle sets Activision up for some potentially great sales with remastered titles and in the future (in 2019), a Modern Warfare Remastered Trilogy would add to those addition sales for the publisher. Infinity Ward has already confirmed that they will be continuing with Infinite Warfare after the original title and to be honest after 2 straight years of possible World War 2 games, that could be a good break that fans need.

I would be completely surprised if Sledgehammer Games released Advanced Warfare 2, because frankly that would pretty much ruin the franchise as a whole, but a Modern Warfare 2 Remaster could sweeten the year for me.
In addition to this, last year a Call of Duty fan set up a petition for a Modern Warfare 2 Remaster and it received a staggering 222,000 signatures which Activision has probably took a close look at. You can see the petition here.
